Group 2 Reflection

In our presentation we talk about how to communicate in groups, the nature and types of groups, characteristics of healthy groups, stages of group development, and conflict in groups; Pseudo-Conflict, Issue-Related Group Conflict, Personality-Related Group Conflict, Culture and Conflict, and Virtual groups and Conflict. Our group leader Jess started the presentation by talking about the definition of group and what a group communication is. I think we all did a good job presenting, everything was always organized, and we were all responsible with what was assigned. I like being part of group 2 because there is good communication and we understand each other.

My favorite presentation was group 1, they provided good information and they were organized during the presentation. Their topic was about Intercultural Communication, a topic that is very influential because it deals with culture, which is a system of sharing beliefs, attitudes, and norms that guides what is considered appropriate among an identifiable group of people and this definitely impacts our society. They also explained about the terms of race, ethnicity, religion, sex and gender, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, age / generation, disability, individualism, context, chronemics, masculinity / femininity, these terms predominate in culture and it is important to know their meaning.

Although the presentation of group 3 at the beginning was a bit disorganized, I liked their topic that was about Group Leadership and Problem Solving, they explained how to have effective meetings; Guidelines for Meeting Leaders, and Guidelines for Meeting Participants, and the different ways of communicating in written formats, oral formats, and virtual formats.

In my opinion, all the presentations were very good. I liked it because the topics we interesting, communication is important because it is our way of understanding each other. It is our tool to get what we need and what we want, as well as what we are. By talking with our friends, with our family, we communicate. At work, with our clients, in companies, when going to buy something we also communicate. Be it with voice and words, with our non-verbal language or even with images or emoticons. Communication is everywhere, and it is necessary in our day to day.
